Controller & Associate Vice President of Finance

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for REIT entities under U.S. GAAP.
• Oversee general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and manage the full month- and quarter-end close.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls in line with SOX and company policies.
• Coordinate annual audits and ensure REIT tax and compliance standards are met.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff while partnering with asset management and finance teams.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and special projects including acquisitions and financings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s/MBA a plus)
• CPA strongly preferred
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in leadership
• Background in real estate, REITs, or public accounting (Big 4/national firm) preferred
• Expertise in U.S. GAAP, consolidation, and REIT structures
• Skilled in Excel and ERP systems (Yardi, MRI, Oracle, Workiva)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities
