Position available only to enrolled American University students.
Job Summary: The Student Administrative Assistant will support the Facilities and Operations functions of the School of Public Affairs Dean’s Office, handling front-desk operations and building-wide services.
Eligibility & Requirements
Current American University student in good academic standing.
Federal Work Study award.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Professional demeanor with a customer-service mindset.
Ability to work independently and handle confidential information.
Willingness to learn internal systems (ticketing, scheduling tools).
Independent and critical thinking required.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous office or customer service experience.
Familiarity with Google Workspace, Canva, and Adobe.
Essential Functions
Perform general administrative duties including scanning, copying, and printing.
Staff the Kerwin Lobby front desk during scheduled shifts.
Answer and route calls from the SPA main phone line.
Utilize the SPA Operations email and ticketing system to manage and respond to service requests.
Schedule and manage bookings for local conference rooms.
Pick up and deliver mail to and from SPA departments as scheduled.
Deliver supplies to departments and offices.
Stock supplies.
Assist with student advising walk-ins and direct students to appropriate services or contacts.
Support any special projects or tasks as assigned by the Facilities and Operations Coordinator.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
This position is available only to enrolled American University students.

Have availability the week prior to the start of spring semester and during spring break.
Note: Duties may change at any time with or without notice.
Position Type/Expected Hours
Part-time.
Approximately 5 hours per week.
Current and active Federal Work Study award.
Salary Range
$17.95 per hour.
