Assistant Manager – Product Engineering As an S&C Electric team member, you’ll work on projects that have real-world impact. You’ll help transform the grid for resilient and reliable power worldwide. S&C has more than a 100-year history of innovation and has been 100% employee-owned since 2012.

Compensation Base salary range: $103,510.00 – $137,121.60 per year.

Eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP) subject to eligibility criteria.

Hours 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Mon‑Fri) On‑Site

Responsibilities

Day‑to‑day leadership of product engineering activities for assigned product lines, focusing on short‑term operational goals and ensuring work is scheduled and completed on time.

Set and manage short‑term operational goals for the product engineering team, ensuring alignment with tactical plans set by senior leaders.

Drive initiatives to reduce costs, simplify designs, and implement product recommendations that align with business strategy.

Assist in managing product feedback and issues that arise from Salesforce or other sources, ensuring the team addresses customer concerns promptly.

Work closely with quality assurance and production operations to ensure product designs meet quality and manufacturing standards.

Generate technical documentation, procedures, and reports to document processes.

Manage day‑to‑day operations of the product engineering team, including scheduling work, tracking progress, and ensuring timely delivery of projects.

Manage departmental administrative processes, including recruitment, induction, vacation management, performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and workforce/succession planning.

Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration, driving process improvements based on data and feedback.

Understand and comply with all applicable company policies and rules.

Additional Functions

Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Attend in‑person or virtual meetings as requested or required.

Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering field.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience

5‑7 years of experience in product engineering.

Rounded knowledge of S&C's products or similar product offerings.

Sound knowledge of product lifecycles, manufacturing processes, and industry trends within electrical manufacturing.

Rounded project management skills with the ability to lead projects and product implementations.

Ability to plan and manage short‑term goals, scheduling, and day‑to‑day team operations.

Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed decisions, solve complex problems, and drive learning.

Rounded communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation); able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and present compellingly.

Great interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.

Ability to travel.

Preferred

Expertise in problem‑solving methodologies such as 4SPS, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Leadership experience.

Major Physical Demands

Sitting – Continuously required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk‑based tasks.

Walking – Frequently required to walk moderate distances.

Manual Dexterity – Occasionally required to use hand‑eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment.

Observation / Eyesight – Frequently required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.

Communication – Continuously required to talk and hear, in person and by phone/conference calls.

Travel – Infrequently required to travel and work extended hours when necessary.

Environmental & Hazardous Conditions

Frequently working indoors/outdoors in an air‑conditioned/non‑air‑conditioned office/manufacturing/site‑based environment.

Occasionally exposure to fumes/vapors/dust/gases/odors/mist/toxic chemicals/radiation/vibration/grease/oils/lasers/other etc.

Occasionally exposed to low/moderate/high noise levels including machinery/vehicles/forklifts/office equipment/office traffic etc.

Infrequently working around energized equipment with the risk of electrocution/scalding/burns/other etc.

Infrequently exposed to wet humid/outdoor weather/extreme cold (non‑weather)/extreme heat (non‑weather) conditions/other etc.

Occasionally working with machinery with moving parts/vehicles/forklifts/heavy machinery/sharp objects/other etc.
