Electrical Engineer (Level III–IV) – Power Distribution
Location:
Atlanta, GA or Milwaukee, WI
Travel:
25–35%
Overview Our client is seeking a senior-level
Electrical Engineer – Power Distribution
to support high-priority, complex automation and industrial facility projects. This role focuses on
heavy electrical infrastructure and building power systems , including switchgear, transformers, feeders, panels, and equipment power.
This engineer will lead the design and execution of scalable power distribution systems, provide technical leadership on large projects, and support standardization efforts across a growing engineering organization. Candidates from
A&E firms, general contractors, or construction-focused backgrounds

Key Responsibilities Power System Design & Execution
Design and engineer low- and medium-voltage
power distribution systems
for industrial and automation environments.
Perform
load calculations , feeder sizing, short circuit considerations, and voltage drop analysis.
Specify and design systems involving
switchgear, transformers (480V–120V), MCCs, panelboards, breakers, grounding networks, and arc-flash mitigation .
Produce and review
one-line diagrams, power schematics, panel layouts, and equipment schedules .
Device Specification & Standards
Own
electrical device selection
including breakers, relays, protective devices, panels, wire, conduit, and raceways.
Develop and maintain electrical standards for major client environments.
Support
AutoCAD Electrical development work , including symbol libraries, templates, and automated drawing standards.
Cross-Functional & Field Support
Coordinate power infrastructure design with mechanical, structural, and controls teams.
Support
field installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
activities on-site and remotely.
Partner with utilities, inspectors, and others to ensure compliance.
Technical Leadership
Conduct internal technical design reviews for power systems.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
Contribute to continuous improvement of electrical engineering practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Level III: 5–7 years of experience in industrial or commercial power system design.
Level IV: 8+ years of experience, including leadership on large or complex projects.
Strong experience with
building electrical systems and heavy power distribution .
Background in
construction, A&E firms, or general contractors
(strongly preferred).
Required Skills
Fluency in
AutoCAD Electrical
(technical testing required).
Strong knowledge of
NEC, UL, IEC, NFPA
standards.
Experience producing
one-line diagrams, feeder schedules, and coordination drawings .
Ability to travel 25–35% for commissioning and field support.
