Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a full-time experienced ICU Registered Nurse.
Night shift position (7:00pm-7:00am) 3 x 12-hour shifts per week.
Sign On Bonus (for new Team Members) and Relocation Bonus available (if relocating to the area) Critical Care (ICU) Unit The Critical Care (ICU) Unit at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is a 12-bed negative-pressure unit dedicated to providing exceptional care to adult and geriatric patients with potentially life‑threatening medical and surgical conditions.
A collaborative team‑nursing approach ensures comprehensive and compassionate care for our critically ill patients. The patient population includes individuals who are critically ill with cardiac, respiratory, renal, metabolic or multi‑organ disorders. Patients are admitted directly from the operating room to recover from anesthesia when they are deemed unstable or critical by the surgeon and/or anesthesiologist. Other types of patients include: stable intracranial bleeds, stroke, sepsis, post‑tPA, pneumonia, DKA, CPAP, Bi‑PAP, heart failure, post‑surgery alcohol withdrawal, GIB, NSTEMI, and care of Covid patients.
Interventions provided in the unit include:
Artic Sun therapy
Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring
Acute ventilator support and management
Post‑tPA care
Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
EKOS catheter therapy
Management of malignant hyperthermia
Massive Transfusion Protocols
The team consists of the following: intensivists during the day, ICU coverage during the night, Clinical Director/Senior Director support, RN Unit Supervisor, RNs and clinical technicians, Palliative/WRTC partnership, critical care educator support and critical care mentor support. RNs maintain a 1:2 nurse/patient ratio except where 1:1 is identified.

Minimum qualifications
Experience:
1 year of experience as a registered nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
Education:
BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate's degree (ADN) must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
Certifications:
BLS for healthcare provider certification from AHA required. ACLS (must obtain within 6 months of hire).
Licensure:
RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN.
Preferred qualifications
2 or more years of ICU RN experience.
