Surgical Tech
Rochester Regional Health is seeking a dedicated Surgical Tech to support a diverse range of operative and invasive procedures. This role is performed in the Operating Room and reports to the Director of Perioperative Services via the Operating Room Charge RN. Position Summary The Surgical Tech is responsible for preparing and providing sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment, maintaining the sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team throughout the procedure. Key Responsibilities Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Act as a scrub person during operative and invasive procedures. Assemble supplies and equipment required for procedures. Prepare and organize sterile supplies and instruments. Assist in accounting procedures with the RN circulator. Help with placement of sterile drapes. Provide instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure. Maintain an organized sterile field. Ensure sterility of the field and take corrective actions as needed. Prepare sterile dressings. Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination area. Assist with post‑procedure cleaning of the operative or invasive procedure room and prepare the room for subsequent patients. Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activities relevant to scrub person activities. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. Minimum Qualifications Graduate from a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited surgical technology program and hold a credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). One year of perioperative services experience. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook). Certified Surgical Technology or equivalent military surgical technology program credential. LPN License in New York State, or evidence of employment as a surgical technologist for a cumulative period of one year within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Employment Details Full‑time, rotating 12‑hour shifts 7 p.m.–7 a.m., Operating Room, Surgical Services Department. Pay Range $22.75 – $32.53 per hour.
