A dynamic rural broadband provider in the Southwest is seeking a forward-thinking and grounded operational leader to serve as their next VP of Operations. This role is designed for an individual who thrives in hands-on environments, is eager to drive operational discipline, and is ready to take on a transformational leadership position. The incoming VP will work alongside the current President to modernize legacy operations, expand fiber network infrastructure, and eventually step into a senior leadership succession role.

Key Responsibilities
Lead company-wide operations across plant, engineering, customer service, and strategic initiatives.
Execute and refine business plans focused on revenue growth, cost control, and long-term financial performance.
Oversee large-scale capital projects, including multi-year fiber rollouts and copper-to-fiber transitions.
Drive process improvements across installation timelines, customer activation, and field operations.
Coach and mentor high-potential staff, building future leaders and enhancing cross-functional collaboration.
Maintain compliance with telecom regulations and safety standards.
Represent the company in industry, community, and partner-facing events.
Partner with the President on strategic decisions and provide executive-level reporting to corporate stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in broadband, telecom, or utilities operations, including leadership in a rural or regional environment.
Demonstrated P&L ownership and successful management of multimillion-dollar capital projects.
Deep familiarity with outside plant operations, fiber construction, and copper-to-fiber migrations.
Expertise in vendor management, engineering oversight, and strategic execution.
Emotional intelligence and leadership presence—able to build trust with long-tenured staff and drive cultural alignment.
Commitment to living in and contributing to a rural community; onsite presence required.
Preferred
Previous experience in a VP, Director of Operations, or Assistant GM role within a broadband provider or ILEC/CLEC.
Understanding of A-CAM, ReConnect, and other federal/state broadband funding mechanisms.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience reporting to or interacting with private equity or holding companies.
