Senior Estimator

– This position is responsible for preparing complete estimates and bid proposals for large and/or complex projects and determining project plans and specifications.

Essential Qualifications

Junior College or Trade / Vocational Training

Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management/estimating

Minimum four (4) to five (5) years of field experience and/or education in construction management

Excellent communication skills

Knowledge of all aspects of cost estimation and budgeting protocols

Familiar with estimating/budgeting computer software

Good leadership and mentoring skills

Post‑offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation

Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others at the workplace

Functional Requirements

Preparing estimates and bid proposals for large and/or complex projects

Effectively lead a team of estimators, quantity surveyors, and other personnel on large and/or complex projects

Evaluate bid packages and verify all documents have been properly transmitted by the client

Work with the Estimating/Proposals Coordinator to establish client proposal requirements and develop a responsibility matrix

Issue fabrication and subcontractor bid packages

Attend pre‑bid meetings

Make a site visit to understand logistics and identify obstructions and/or hindrances

Conduct and/or coordinate labor and material take‑offs

Assign labor units to the quantity take‑off

Send material to BOQ for pricing

Incorporate client addendum into the estimate

Develop a bar chart schedule for estimating purposes and submittal to the client

Receive and evaluate material, fabrication and subcontractor quotes

Establish overall estimate costs (Estimate Summary Sheets)

Meet with management to review the estimate and make necessary changes

Create proposal documents for client submission

Ensure the proposal is transmitted to the client on time with all required documents

Attend post‑bid meetings

Follow‑up with client requests after proposal submittal

If awarded the project, engage in the estimating turnover process with the construction department

Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Compensation Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
