Job Summary The Senior Full Stack Engineer serves as a technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-scale APIs that enable secure, standardized access to IRS data across legacy and modern platforms. This role supports the full API lifecycle, from architecture and design through deployment, monitoring, and optimization, while mentoring team members and ensuring alignment with IRS enterprise standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of REST, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs aligned with IRS architectural standards.
Develop and maintain backend services using modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Node.js, or Spark.
Build and integrate frontend components as needed using frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
Define and enforce API versioning, authentication, and authorization standards using OAuth and JWT.
Guide decomposition of legacy COBOL services and command codes into modern API-based services.
Ensure backward compatibility, data integrity, and consistent object modeling across systems.
Support API readiness reviews and consumer onboarding activities.
Implement automated unit, integration, and regression testing frameworks.
Enable observability through monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or Prometheus.
Mentor mid-level engineers and provide technical direction across delivery teams.
Contribute to technical documentation, API specifications, and design artifacts.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
5 to 8 or more years of full stack software development experience.
Strong experience designing and building enterprise APIs.
Proficiency in frontend and backend development technologies.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Hands‑on experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, secure coding practices, and DevSecOps principles.
