Duties
Direct and supervise meat department activities and personnel. Forecast product demand and manage inventory. Ensure meats are trimmed, sorted, cut, packaged, rotated, priced, and displayed professionally. Maintain adequate supplies of processed and vendor‑packaged meats. Use automated cutting and pricing programs for inventory and cost analysis. Design and reset promotional displays. Inspect and maintain processing areas, display cases, and storage rooms for cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance. Inspect equipment and schedule maintenance. Enforce safety practices with power tools, knives, grinding equipment, etc.
Work Conditions
Work performed in retail and processing environments. Exposure to cold temperatures in receiving, storage, and processing areas. Risk of injury from equipment, heavy lifting, and wet floors.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment: U.S. citizenship or national. Selective Service registration for eligible males. Eligibility for security clearance. Probationary period up to one year. Physical ability to lift up to 40 lb unassisted and occasionally over 40 lb with assistance. Must sign a mobility agreement.
Qualifications
Specialized experience in retail procurement, merchandising, and store management, or equivalent education. Specific GS‑level requirements are described in the full announcement.
