Job Description Summary Impact Dynamics builds analytical models of the fan modules and component rigs to enable design assessment, calculation of damage and impact design loads, and to assist in bird and ice ingestion related design optimization and non-linear dynamic analysis for technology maturation, new and fielded products. As a Lead Engineer within Impact Dynamics, you interface with design, Systems, and Engine Dynamics to work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
Job Description Roles and Responsibilities
As An Impact Dynamics Engineer, You Will
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Develop and analyze LSDYNA models to support the design and development of aircraft engines. Provide impact loads, deflections, & stress/strain results to design groups and provide guidance for interpretation.
Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Prepare reports and present to engine program customers and engineering leadership
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college
At least 3 additional years of in an Engineering position or equivalent experience
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Desired Characteristics
Prior experience with LS-DYNA or other explicit FE code.
Familiarity with structural analysis, preloaded structures, rotating structures.
Familiarity with Hypermesh, ANSYS, or other meshing software.
Familiarity with vibration analysis, vibration testing and rotor dynamics’ analysis methods
Interest in continuing to improve standard processes and improve best practices
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
Solid oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to influence others and lead small teams
Strong problem-solving skills
