A Day in the Life:
The Product Line Director (PLD) serves as the strategic owner of assigned OEM or dealer relationships, acting as the 'CEO' of their product line. The PLD is accountable for economic performance, strategic direction, and operational excellence — optimizing how Hertz buys, holds, and sells vehicles across North America. Starting salary is $200K; commensurate with experience.
What You’ll Do:
OEM Relationship Management
Serve as the primary contact for assigned OEM and dealer groups.
Lead annual RFP processes with assigned OEMs
Negotiate purchase and repurchase terms, discounts, incentives, support programs, car class mix and risk/repurchase mix.
Strengthen long‑term OEM partnerships and ensure consistent alignment with Hertz corporate objectives.
Own Net Cap, residual values, DPU/EPU, recall and hold period performance.
Ensure fleet deals align with Hertz’s profitability, depreciation, utilization and cash flow targets.
Balance repurchases and risk strategies to deliver optimal fleet costs and revenue‑generating capability.
Maintain the Book of Vehicle Knowledge including trims and color residual value performance, lifecycle costs, RV trends, and recall risk/performance.
Track OEM inventories, production plans and market developments.
Provide actionable insights on what to buy, when, and at what cost.
Partner with Finance, Fleet Planning, Operations, IT, and Remarketing to ensure VIN‑level accuracy and forecasting precision.
Lead coordination across departments to execute on volume and delivery timing commitments.
Drive process discipline and data integrity across the lifecycle.
Anticipate and respond to OEM production shifts, market cycles, tariffs, and regulatory changes (CAFE/CARB).
Support global transformation initiatives — including product days, OEM engagement events, and platform integration.
Enable continuous improvement and innovation in fleet strategy execution.
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related discipline (MBA preferred).
12-15 years of experience in automotive, fleet management, or mobility industries.
Demonstrated success managing OEM or supplier relationships.
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; deep understanding of vehicle lifecycle economics.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross‑functional leadership skills.
