Mission:
The Department of Anesthesiology is committed to delivering the best possible pediatric anesthetic and critical care to our pediatric patients, advancing research and quality improvement in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine, and training the next generation of anesthesiologists through our residency and fellowship programs along with medical student teaching.
Chief Purpose:
Provide care to patients at our Children’s Hospital of Richmond as assigned by the Department Chair or delegate. Includes preanesthetic evaluation, intraoperative anesthetic care, postoperative rounds, resuscitation and intensive care, therapeutic/diagnostic nerve blocks, and consultation in chronic pain cases. Directs activities of nurse anesthetists as assigned.
Responsibilities
Teaching: provide bedside clinical teaching of residents, medical students, student nurse anesthetists and others; participate in didactic programs, conferences, rounds, staff meetings as required.
Research: pursue clinical or laboratory research independently within institutional guidelines; participate in clinical trials as interest.
Service: serve on departmental, school, university or system committees; engage in community service.
Clinical: provide anesthesiology care in main OR and ambulatory areas; supervise and direct CRNAs; direct anesthesia care in other critical care areas.
Minimum Qualifications
MD or DO degree.
ABA Board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology and/or certified/eligible for Critical Care Certification.
Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
Eligible for employment in the United States.
Good communication, clinical and teaching skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a diverse faculty, staff, and students.
Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience
