Optum is hiring a
Behavioral Medical Director
to provide oversight and direction of the utilization management program and perform peer reviews as necessary for behavioral services within the Tri‑State area .
This individual will interact directly with Psychiatrists, Behavioral Health Providers, and other clinical professionals, such as Psychiatric Nurses, who consult on various complex clinical scenarios, processes and programs. The Behavioral Medical Director is part of a team that manages development and implementation of evidence‑based treatments and medical expense initiatives and will also advise leadership on system improvement opportunities. They are responsible for timely peer reviews, appeals and consultations with providers and other community‑based clinicians, including general practitioners, and will work collaboratively with utilization management, care management, quality, account management, and operations teams.
What you bring:
MD or DO degree, board certification in Psychiatry
Active, unrestricted medical license in New York
Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience
