Position : Permanent Faculty, Open Rank, Full‑Time • 40 hrs per week, 1.0 FTE

Position Summary As part of UNC’s strategic plan toward a new free‑standing 550‑bed Children’s Hospital, the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology seeks an accomplished academic physician to serve as Section Chief of Pediatric Hepatology. This full‑time, fixed‑term position supports building a world‑class academic liver program including pediatric liver transplant services.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction and clinical leadership for the pediatric liver program
Oversee clinical operations and quality improvement initiatives
Develop and expand liver transplantation services
Advance the research mission through clinical trials and translational studies
Foster education by teaching medical students, residents, and fellows
Recruit and mentor faculty members
Collaborate with leadership across departments and disciplines
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements MD or DO with board certification in Pediatric Gastroenterology; additional fellowship training or extensive experience in Pediatric Hepatology.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Proven track record of academic accomplishments in clinical care, research, and education
Strong leadership and administrative skills
Experience in program building and faculty development
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
