Utilities Description Performs first-line supervisory duties in planning, organizing, coordinating, scheduling and directing activities and personnel involved with the installation, maintenance and repair of Utility and Non-utility gas systems. Responsible for meeting all company-defined compliance requirements impacting this activity. Recommends hiring of, trains, and supervises assigned staff. In conjunction with HR and/or Senior Leadership and in accordance to the CBA as applicable, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate. Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assigned staff. Manages payroll and/or non-payroll budgets, monitors expenditures and ensures compliance with budget. Consistently supports a culture of safety to ensure protection of our people, the community and the environment. Complies with all safety rules and procedures and reports all unsafe acts and conditions. Keeps abreast of all federal, state and local regulations, laws and Hawai’i Gas policies and procedures. Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs. Provides and enforces appropriate safety rules and procedures; provides for a safe work environment. Coordinates and provides for EH&S and technical training programs; maintains records of all training conducted. Performs as first‑responder and Site Commander for call-outs and emergency situations as necessary or required. Keeps abreast of federal, state and local codes and regulations pertaining to this activity. Performs related duties as required or other duties as assigned; e.g. prepares or completes reports; reviews documentation submitted by assigned personnel for accuracy and completeness; prepares and/or approves timesheets of personnel; prepares lesson plans and trains personnel as required; handles Step 1 of the grievance procedure in the Collective Bargaining Agreement; recommends personnel action. Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition; performs housekeeping duties as required. Comply with safety rules and efficiency initiatives and cooperates in the fullest in the promotion of safety and safe work habits. Maintains all EH&S training on a current basis. Consistently supports compliance with the organization’s code of conduct by maintaining confidentiality of information, protecting organizational assets, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, licensure requirements (if applicable) and organizational policies and procedures. Consistently supports compliance with all applicable MIC and Hawaii Gas policies and procedures.
Other Functions / Responsibilities Performs all other related duties as instructed by supervisor/manager.
Qualifications
Required Education and/or Work Experience: Technical school certificate or equivalent experience.
Good working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and County regulations and Company policies and procedures impacting this activity.
Good working knowledge of CFR 49 Part 191, 192, NFPA 54, Operations and Maintenance Manual, computer software-MS Office, in-house computer applications of SAP and ORCOM.
Preferred Education and/or Work Experience
College degree desirable.
Previous working experience in a union environment.
Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation
Driver's license with clean abstract and ability to operate truck; ability to obtain CDL license.
