Construction Manager – Campbell Union High School District Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Construction Manager is responsible for managing assigned construction projects related to the facilities master plan.

Calendar and Compensation

$128,506.47 - $172,208.59 annually; CMC Salary Schedule, Range 14

Primary Responsibilities

Represents the district at construction meetings.

Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.

Oversee contracted construction workers.

Take actions to handle delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites.

Plan, organize, and direct activities concerning the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.

Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites to ensure proper procedures are followed.

Evaluate construction methods and determine cost‑effectiveness of plans.

Work with Project Manager to monitor implementation and resolve issues that may impede timely completion with the overall schedule and intermediate milestones.

Resolve all design quality issues between the architect and the general contractor.

Manage the change‑order process; prepare change orders for Board approval.

Coordinate the prompt response to RFI’s, CCD’s, etc.

Review and negotiate all cost proposals and requests for time extensions.

Coordinate the removal and remediation of hazardous materials.

Manage the project inspection process with the Inspector and DSA, including all closeout documentation.

Manage district outside vendors (movers, cleaners, technology, equipment, furniture vendors, city utilities).

Maintain daily records and semi‑monthly project reports to the Facilities Director.

Communicate and coordinate with school principals, staff, and neighbors.

Manage project closeout, transfer warranties, O&M, and as‑built documents; coordinate training for maintenance of new buildings.

Qualifications – Knowledge of

Current construction industry standards and practices

Public school district construction management

Ability To

Manage multiple high‑priority projects simultaneously

Demonstrate past success in construction management

Meet or exceed rigorous goals and deadlines

Exhibit excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and continuous improvement

Work well with diverse stakeholders

Manage contract employees effectively to achieve outcomes

Learn quickly in a fast‑paced, continuously improving environment

Operate standard office equipment including a computer and assigned software

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Education and Experience

Minimum 5‑10 years in construction management

Public school district experience preferred

Working Conditions Office environment.

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain stationary for 87.5% of time.

Constantly operate a computer keyboard, calculator, and other office machines.

Communicate and accurately exchange/provide information.

Occasional bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials.
