Job Overview

Jensen Hughes is seeking Mechanical Engineers in our Baltimore, MD and Washington DC area offices who are interested in expanding their engineering skillset to include Fire Protection & Life Safety services. Jensen Hughes’ focus on specialty engineering and consulting services creates a highly rewarding environment with the opportunity to work alongside creative professionals at the top of their fields. This exciting and unique profession offers a wide variety of engineering design and consulting projects across the U.S. and globally. As a member of our team you will:

Responsibilities

Design of mechanical, fire safety, and specialty engineering systems, including fire alarm and detection systems, mass notification, fire suppression, smoke control, and special hazard systems.

Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.

Review design and construction submittals for compliance with regulatory requirements, including building code reviews and analyses.

Perform site surveys to inspect and evaluate building features and systems.

Plan and direct engineering activities for projects.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Fire Protection, or related engineering field.

5+ years of experience in design and layout of mechanical or specialty engineering systems.

Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills.

Revit or AutoCAD experience.

Ability to present clear and technically sound engineering strategies and good communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, enjoy professional challenges, and endeavor to be an integral part of the long‑term growth of Jensen Hughes.

Professional engineering registration preferred.

Ability or desire to manage/lead projects preferred.
