Senior VP for Academic Affairs/Provost The College of Staten Island (CSI) is a senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) serving over 10,000 students. The Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs reports directly to the President and will serve as a key strategic partner in implementing the new strategic plan and leading the institution into its next chapter.

Responsibilities

Direct recruiting, retention, and professional development of diverse and distinguished faculty and academic staff.

Oversee mentoring and development of faculty in teaching, pedagogy, research, and scholarly activity.

Increase excellence of CSI's academic and research programs and student success.

Promote CSI's external reputation including global engagement and supervise Deans of the Divisions of Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Technology, the Lucille and Jay Chazanoff School of Business, the School of Education and Social Work, and the Associate Dean of the Library.

Manage a large budget component within the College’s overall budget, setting financial priorities and allocating resources data‑informed, innovative and responsibly.

Ensure adherence to federal, state, and accreditation standards, especially Middle States and assessment of student learning outcomes.

Improve academic programs for students from diverse backgrounds and with unique needs.

Facilitate shared governance, cooperative action, and information sharing among academic units, faculty, and senior leadership.

Qualifications All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD (or equivalent) and credentials appropriate for appointment as a tenured full professor with a history of excellence in teaching and scholarly/creative work.

Progressively significant academic leadership experience, including faculty recruitment, retention, promotion/tenure decisions, budgeting, allocations and compliance.

Experience supervising and collaborating with both academic and non‑academic divisions and advocating for faculty, staff and students.

Track record of recruiting, mentoring and retaining faculty and staff from underrepresented groups.

Ability to communicate persuasively with business, governmental and not‑for‑profit leaders on issues vital to an urban public university.

Compensation and Benefits $275,000 – $290,000 salary commensurate with education and experience. CUNY benefits include health plans, retirement/pension, tuition waivers, paid time off, and access to campus programs.
