Department Function:
IFF manages the Foundation for Homan Square, a non‑profit established in 1995 to oversee the Homan Square redevelopment plan. The Foundation serves as an umbrella organization managing initiatives and properties on the Homan Campus, including the Homan Square Community Center, The Charles H. Shaw Technology and Learning Center, and the Nichols Tower.

Basic Job Function The Executive Director (ED) of the Foundation for Homan Square advances community engagement and stakeholder collaboration in the greater North Lawndale and East Garfield Park communities and the Homan Square campus, aligning with IFF’s mission and strategic plan. The ED coordinates all IFF activities for the Foundation, manages asset relationships, supports the Development Group on real‑estate projects, leads the FHS Board, advisory committees, community and public relations, and maintains knowledge of the Foundation’s commercial and housing assets.
Core Responsibilities
Represent the FHS within the greater North Lawndale communities and citywide as needed to advance community development goals.
Collaborate with the IFF FHS team to advance a strategic planning framework and develop a shared vision for future community development.
Coordinate and staff the FHS Board of Directors and Community Advisory Committees, including scheduling, materials, and coordination with IFF staff.
Provide strategic guidance to IFF Real Estate Services and Asset Management staff regarding project development and tenant relations.
Work with IFF staff to maintain knowledge of current and future Foundation commercial and residential operations, including tenant relationships, housing concerns, finances, and budgets.
Plan and organize community building and engagement activities linking the campus to the greater North Lawndale community.
Coordinate with nonprofit tenants to maximize campus services and ensure their input in campus development.
Develop and coordinate the Homan Square Leadership Council to build relationships between campus providers and IFF leadership, board, and staff.
Collaborate with IFF communications staff to develop and implement a communications plan supporting the campus and community efforts.
Maintain required job knowledge and core professional competencies, attending educational programs and staff meetings as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Performance Measures
High satisfaction of Board and Community Advisory Committee members and campus partners with coordination of meetings, events, and communications.
Successful completion of strategic activities and projects according to the annual work plan.
High partner satisfaction with coordination of events, activities, and communications.
Effective facilitation of internal and external meetings with documented outcomes.

Position Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in urban planning, business, or communications.
Previous Experience:
At least five years in community engagement, community development, and/or leadership development.
Knowledge of the greater North Lawndale community, its nonprofit organizations, and elected officials preferred.
Exceptional interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
Ability to manage multiple, diverse tasks and prioritize among them; thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication, including presentation and collateral development.
Regular travel to IFF’s headquarters; occasional early start, extended hours, and evening or weekend work.
