The Clinical Supervisor (CS) is responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager or Director in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating services of the unit. It is expected that the CS manages and coordinates the unit, directs and supervises caregivers, performs functions and activities, and interprets policies/procedures/protocols, standards, and regulations as appropriate. The CS’s scope of responsibility spans all aspects of nursing care. The CS maintains clinical competence and certifications to assist the unit when required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree‑Nursing. Clinical Supervisors employed prior to 1/1/17 who have not obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing are required to obtain BSN within 3 years from 1/1/17.

California Registered Nurse License upon hire.

National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.

ANCC recognized specialty certification (or within 1 year of hire). For clinical supervisors hired prior to February 16, 2022 who have not obtained an AACN recognized specialty certification, must obtain within 1 year from 2/16/2022.

1 year – Recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital in specialty area.

1 year – Charge Nurse/Relief Charge Nurse experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree‑Nursing.

Shared Governance experience.
