Job Description The optometrist will conduct eye exams for Acuity Eyecare group and strive to practice to the full capacity of their license. The optometrist will support practice growth by establishing patient relationships and education to the patient on eyecare.
Responsibilities
Conducting eye exams
Establishing long‑term patient relationships through proper patient care and education
Performing verbal interview with patient prior to examination to determine health, ocular history, medical issues, reasons for their visit, and visual wants and needs
Instructing, recommending, and advising patients on options for remediation of ametropias, systemic and ocular disease, and visual wants and needs; supporting staff with recap discussion
Generating patient loyalty and promoting the profession of optometry and Acuity Eyecare Group values
Performing vision tests and analyzing results
Diagnosing sight problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and eye diseases
Prescribing eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications
Recommending or providing treatments such as vision therapy or low‑vision rehabilitation (brand specific)
Providing pre‑ and post‑operative care to patients undergoing eye surgery—for example, examining a patient’s eyes the day after cataract or refractive surgery
Evaluating patients for diseases such as diabetes and referring them to other healthcare providers within the proper time frame
Promoting eye health by counseling patients, including explaining how to clean and wear contact lenses, frequency of eye examinations, and proper eye care practices
Communicating to opticians and other sales personnel appropriate recommendations for the best possible lenses with the latest high‑technology coatings and designs
Requirements
Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution
Must have passed all optometric state boards
