New Homes Field Manager

Description Qcells Home Energy Solutions seeks a Field Manager to manage the overall construction on solar and battery projects being built in new home developments. As a Field Manager you will be responsible for on‑site oversight and management of the solar and battery storage system installation phases during home construction. Major responsibilities include conducting job site visits to the new home communities to ensure Installers complete contracted scopes safely, on schedule, and with best‑in‑class quality workmanship. The ideal candidate is a construction professional with experience working with new home Builders and all relevant trades in the home construction process including framing, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, roofing, photovoltaics and energy storage.
This position will be based out of one of our offices in Irvine, CA; San Francisco, CA; or Teaneck, NJ, with a potential in‑office schedule set at the direct manager’s discretion in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Participate in new community kickoff, pre‑construction walk‑throughs, and other key Builder meetings related to field operations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for Builder Superintendents to align construction schedules, coordinate inspections, and resolve field‑related issues to prevent delays.
Provide accurate installation progress updates through regular community visits and close coordination with site superintendents and installation partner crews.
Deliver ongoing training to Installation Partners covering safety, quality, timeliness, communication, and installation best practices.
Lead resolution of technical and logistical challenges by collaborating cross‑functionally with Builders, Installers, and internal Operations teams.
Guide Installers, Builders, and Homeowners through commissioning and activation processes, including hands‑on support for mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
Act as the technical subject matter expert (SME) on Qcells PV and ESS mechanical and electrical systems for Builders, Installers, and Field Operations teams.
Conduct quality audits and ensure construction meets design specifications, safety standards, and scope of work requirements.
Analyze installer performance and review scorecard results to drive continuous improvement.
Escalate design changes that could impact system performance, homeowner satisfaction, or inspection/PTO approvals; provide redlines for approved field‑based adjustments.
Optimize travel and site visits using routing software to meet weekly, monthly, and quarterly activation goals efficiently.
Maintain accurate project data within CRM systems, fulfillment portals, and financier tools.
Support procurement and supply chain teams with periodic inventory reconciliation as needed.
Attend team and partner meetings to share feedback and best practices.
Occasionally submit or pick up permits and host inspections with AHJs as required.
Ensure adherence to operational procedures and industry best practices to maintain consistency and quality across all installations.
Travel Requirement: Approximately 50% local travel for on‑site visits, inspections, and meetings with clients, vendors, and project teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or other related field with a minimum of 8+ years’ work experience in project management with 3+ years’ work experience in Field Operations and Operations Management related to solar and storage in new home communities.
Ability to comprehend, implement and adhere to master plan sets, PV/ESS design sets with impeccable attention to detail while exercising critical thinking skills to optimize layouts and system specifications.
Ability to exercise strong organizational, problem‑solving and analytical skills as well as process driven while finding long‑term solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present internal and external stakeholders on the performance of the new home solar contractors.
Entrepreneurial mindset and demonstrated ability to thrive in a high‑growth environment.
Must have and maintain a Valid Driver License and a clean driving record.
Ability to visit job sites in strict compliance with QCells and OSHA’s safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in Construction, Roofing, Solar or Electrical.
Preferred OSHA 30 Certification.
