Position Overview
As a Director at LJA Land Development, you will manage and direct department staff and projects within the Land Development Division. Responsibilities include strategic planning, project design, quality assurance, problem resolution, business development, and client management. The role requires collaborating with senior management, assisting in developing systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality standards, and executing project design and management to meet company objectives.
A Typical Day
Build relationships and grow business in the Land Development sector.
Meet with existing and potential clients for business development opportunities.
Attend events, seminars, and workshops outside normal business hours to represent LJA.
Support land development entitlement activities, strategize, solve problems, and serve as a trusted advisor.
Lead and manage the execution of land development projects.
Develop project scope, budget, and schedule.
Manage design team performance on assigned projects.
Assist in developing intermediate and long‑range plans for system operation, maintenance, and expansion.
Review and recommend payment for damage claims to ensure legal defensibility.
Review major work orders and approve/justify construction and operations budgets.
Participate in strategic planning and annual financial budgeting.
Build the culture of the local Land Development practice.
Prepare reports and advise senior management on departmental activities.
Required Education / License / Certifications Bachelor’s Degree (required).
Required Qualifications
P.E. License.
5+ years of managerial experience.
20+ years of experience in Land Development engineering.
Proficiency in appropriate market software.
Excellent attention to detail and work ethic.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
