Overview The Unit Clerk provides essential administrative and clerical support to ensure smooth operations within a healthcare unit. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment. The Unit Clerk serves as a central point of contact for staff, patients, families, and other departments, assisting with administrative functions, patient flow, and unit activities.

Responsibilities

Prioritizes dissemination of information using available technology.

Assists with maintaining readiness of patient care equipment.

Effectively and accurately maintains patient records.

Manages supplies and patient care supplies—orders, obtains, and stores them.

Transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher.

Manipulates a cart loaded with supplies.

Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Unit clerk experience or experience in a medical office setting preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work‑related reasons.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Write, read, comprehend, and speak fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Basic Microsoft Office computer skills. Customer/patient focus. Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
