Summary The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center is recruiting a Physician (Endocrinology) to provide patient care and further growth of the Endocrinology department within the emerging competitive healthcare environment.
Qualifications
United States Citizenship : Non‑citizens may be appointed only when not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
Education : Doctor of Medicine or equivalent, from a VA‑approved school.
License and Registration : Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any US state, territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia.
Residency Training : Completed residency in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification (Neurology) – note that the position is for Endocrinology and residency may vary as per VA policy.
Authorized residencies : ACGME, AOA, or other accepted programs with minimum five years verified practice in the US.
PRP eligibility : Physicians in ACGME/AOA residency may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers on an intermittent or fee‑basis.
Board Certification : In Endocrinology (Preferred).
English Language Proficiency : Proficient in spoken and written English per 38 U.S.C. 7402(d).
Additional Requirement : BLS certification required.
Physical Requirements : Must pass a pre‑employment physical and meet specific lifting, carrying, and vision standards.

Responsibilities
Work up, diagnose, and provide non‑surgical treatment including consultation for both admitted and outpatient patients.
Attend all assigned outpatient Endocrinology clinics and provide cross‑coverage when needed.
Provide timely hand‑offs to ensure continuity of care with nursing staff and hospital providers.
Perform timely maintenance and renewals for mandatory training.
Submit leave and sick request submissions to avoid cancellations.
Provide call and after‑hour coverage per schedule.
Participate in resident education and patient care on outpatient clinics and inpatient wards.
Conduct examinations to detect hormonal imbalance; prescribe treatment and conduct follow‑ups.
Provide dietary and preventive recommendations.
Oversee diabetes management and education clinics.
Coordinate with admitting physicians and consultants to organize diagnostic and treatment plans.
Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews.
Work schedule typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with possible shift variations.
