Job Description Palo Alto Networks is looking for a Sr Staff Software Engineer to help us build out our AI Agent Security capability on the cloud. You have the unique opportunity to:
Help build out a world‑class security service that caters to the growing needs of multiple Fortune 100 enterprise companies across the globe
Be part of a world‑class software engineering team that works on various ground‑breaking cloud security service offerings
Accelerate the development team in delivering security as a service in the public cloud by providing highly scalable, highly available, and fault‑tolerant infrastructure
Your Impact
Responsible for developing software products for Agentic AI Security
Responsible for the complete software development life cycle, including requirement analysis, design, development, deployment, and support
Write clean, testable, readable, scalable, and maintainable Java, Python, or Go code
Design, develop, and implement highly scalable software features and infrastructure for our security platform, ready for cloud‑native deployment from inception to completion
Participate actively and contribute to design and development discussions
Develop a solid understanding and be able to explain advanced Cloud Computing and Cloud Security concepts to others
Work cross‑functionally with Product Management, SRE, Software, and Quality Engineering teams to deliver new security‑as‑a‑service offerings to the market in a timely, high‑quality manner
Be able to communicate goals and desired outcomes to internal project teams clearly
Work closely with customer support teams to improve end‑customer outcomes
Qualifications & Experience
7+ years of experience in software engineering, focusing on cloud‑native application development, at large organizations or innovative startups
Strong programming skills in one of Python, Go, or Java, with experience building distributed systems
Preferred experience with security products and integration with third‑party APIs and services
6+ years of experience running workloads on cloud‑based architectures (Google Cloud Platform experience preferred)
Experience developing scalable services using Big Query, Spanner, ElasticSearch, Redis, Kafka/PubSub, MongoDB, etc.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms
Excellent troubleshooting abilities, isolating issues during testing and verifying bug fixes
Experience building and delivering services and workflows at scale, leveraging microservices architectures
Good understanding of public cloud design considerations and limitations in microservice architectures, security, global network infrastructure, distributed systems, and load balancing
Preferred experience with AI‑based conversational UI and chatbot platforms and AI agents
Can‑do attitude and ability to make trade‑off judgments with data‑driven decision making
High energy and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
Enjoys working with diverse teams, with strong collaboration and communication skills
Nice to Have
Experience and deep understanding of Low Code / No Code platforms like Microsoft Power Platform, Salesforce, Zapier, Marketo, etc.
Experience with Agentic AI platforms such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, Salesforce Agentforce, Crew AI, Amazon Bedrock, Azure AI, Google Vertex AI, OpenAI, etc.
Experience and interest in reverse engineering, jailbreaking, and hacking AI systems
Experience in AI Security research, performing security evaluations and threat modeling
In-depth experience with exploiting OWASP LLM Top 10 vulnerabilities, OWASP Low Code No Code Top 10 vulnerabilities, and OWASP NHI Top 10 vulnerabilities
Knowledge of AI Agents / LLM security, Application security, Network security, Authentication, Authorization, Identity systems, encryption, and secure coding practices
Preferred Qualification BS/MS in Computer Science or other engineering/technical degree
Compensation Disclosure The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non‑sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $165,000 and $198,000 per year. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus.
