Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney
to join its successful and respected litigation practice.
Position Experienced Associate Attorney - Workers' Compensation Defense
About The Role This attorney will defend workers' compensation claims across multiple industries and manage a dedicated caseload with the support of experienced partners. The role involves litigation strategy, depositions, hearings, mediations, motion practice, medical record review, and extensive client communication. A hybrid schedule is available after an initial training period.
Responsibilities
Defend workers' compensation claims for employers and carriers across a wide range of industries
Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, medical providers, and experts
Represent clients in mediations and hearings before the administrative commission
Draft motions, briefs, discovery responses, and case assessments
Perform legal and medical analysis to develop case strategy
Attend hearings and negotiate settlements
Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, adjusters, risk managers, and internal team members
Provide ongoing reports, updates, and clear communication to clients
Qualifications
3-6 years of Workers' Compensation Defense Litigation experience (required)
Licensed in North Carolina (required)
Strong writing skills; deposition and mediation experience preferred
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
Organized, motivated, and proactive in case strategy
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $95K-$110K+, with flexibility above for highly experienced candidates
