APTM Senior Facilities TD & Operations Structural Engineer

Job Details This role has both an operations-focused function and a facilities technology development-transfer function. In general, the candidate will oversee structural designs of Intel buildings and MEP support systems, and anchorage of nonstructural components regarding code compliance, seismic and gravity loading, vibration and integration with existing building and facilities systems.

Responsibilities

Support multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Participate in design reviews to evaluate methods for safety, code, Intel standards compliance and value engineering.

Provide engineering support and technical guidance to construction and sustaining facility design teams regarding building systems, product evaluations, and building code issues.

Act as system owner for select structural systems: maintain documentation and oversee development of new strategies.

Interface with local jurisdictions about code issues and project comments.

Collaborate with site facility teams, construction groups, suppliers, and key stakeholders as an integrated team.

Operations

Plan, implement, and maintain infrastructure and equipment of buildings and facilities; determine specifications.

Analyze operational processes, resource allocation, energy use, and safety; recommend and implement improvements; provide test and commissioning support.

Gather and analyze data, blueprints, and reports; play a key role in cost analysis and budgeting.

Design and oversee facility expansion, layout, system capacity management, forecasting, and quality controls.

Evaluate operational systems and infrastructure to improve efficiencies; develop processing plans and optimize resources.

Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules and contractor activities.

Ensure compliance with regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards; prepare reports.

Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to fully integrate design and construction processes.

Develop preventative maintenance programs, respond to urgent maintenance calls, and coordinate with external vendors.

Maintain equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards.

Technology Development and Transfer

Set strategic roadmaps and priorities for development teams to perform breakthrough research for facilities equipment and systems.

Manage high-volume design work to determine facilities requirements, enabling microprocessor and system‑on‑chip manufacturing.

Collaborate with suppliers to design new equipment and improve existing tools; operate manufacturing lines for microprocessor production.

Maintain Intel Master Design Specifications (IMDS) and operations specifications for transfer and start‑up of new facility process transfers.

Set team priorities, facilitate results across boundaries, ensure inclusive work environment, develop employees, manage performance.

Drive activities and resources for developing facilities equipment and systems that enable new technology before transfer to high‑volume manufacturing.

Coach Technology Development (TD) pathfinding and road‑mapping for advanced/future technology research.

Provide technical coaching to TD engineers.

Work with cross‑functional partners to ensure successful transfer and ramp of new technology into high‑volume manufacturing.

Enable teams with clear goal setting, accountability, differentiated performance management, and predictive results.

Candidate Skills & Behavioral Traits

Extremely strong written and oral communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, collaborate with diverse client groups, handle ambiguity, and solve problems creatively.

Note This role requires regular onsite presence and travel to support multiple sites.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering or related technical field from an ABET‑accredited university.

Registered Professional Engineering (PE) license.

5 years of experience in structural engineering functions.

Experience developing engineering solutions that meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI codes and other national standards.

Emphasis in seismic analysis and design of concrete and steel structures and nonstructural components.

Proficiency with finite element analysis and other structural analysis programs.

Experience analyzing structural forces and stresses from dead, live, and environmental loads.

Understanding of vibration theory and control.

Preferred Qualifications

Postgraduate or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field.

Registered Structural Engineering (SE) license or reciprocity of PE/SE license.

Familiarity with semiconductor tool installation designs, SEMI‑52 Construction standards, or industrial facility design.

8 years of experience in structural engineering functions.

Experience authoring technical documents, white papers, specifications, design standards, and structural drawings.

Experience influencing local jurisdictional authorities on design and construction standards.

Experience in manufacturing structural design, construction, and operations in high‑tech industry, including semiconductor fabs.

Experience designing structures in both US and low‑cost geographies.

Annual Salary Range: $136,990.00 – $226,150.00 USD (US locations only).
