Snapshot: We’re hiring an experienced Model UX Content Designer to play a critical role in ensuring the quality and effectiveness of content generated by Gemini. You’ll be responsible for developing and implementing content and model behavior standards, architecting scalable frameworks and processes. You’ll create robust response strategies, system instructions, rubrics, evaluation methods, and guidelines to ensure high quality behavior and responses in Gemini.

The Role As a Content Designer focused on the quality of the Gemini model’s output, you’ll build new capabilities for users and help them get the best out of the product. You’ll work in a rapidly evolving, exciting area with a dedicated and passionate team.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with Product, Engineering, and Policy to shape the behavior and responses of LLM models

Utilize mastery of the art and structure of language to create principles, response strategies, and examples for the content quality of Gemini models

Define and establish comprehensive content standards and specifications for Gemini models, addressing factors like factual accuracy, privacy, safety, personality, tone, and style

Diagnose content quality issues and develop strategies and alignment for implementation and hillclimbing across product areas

Develop strategies for improving model response quality, write instructions, guidelines, and standards to guide the work of reviewers and engineers

Write ideal model responses that serve as the north star for model output

Collaborate with engineers, product managers, researchers, and data scientists to define user‑centered quality standards and approaches to measurement

Create scalable solutions to UX and process challenges across teams

Advocate for a user‑centered approach to model output, ensuring that the content the model generates meets the needs and expectations of our users

Deeply understand model training methods and processes, and stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in generative AI

About You We’re looking for a systems thinker with strong skills in content strategy, conversation design, and problem‑solving, anchored by a passion for the craft of writing. You’ll have experience developing guidelines, exemplary content, evaluations, and rubrics for LLMs, as well as writing and editing in a fast‑paced, agile environment. Leveraging complex cross‑functional partnerships, you’ll work with product, engineering, research, and data science to articulate and guide product strategy.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, UX, HCI, or equivalent practical experience

5 years of experience on user‑focused writing, including work in hardware, software, digital agencies, creative industries, journalism, or other relevant areas

Experience in shaping content for multi‑disciplinary projects

A portfolio of content strategies and longer‑form writing samples

Preferred Experience

Experience training and tuning large language models or other generative AI technologies

Experience being a driver in a fast‑paced, startup environment

Experience working on multi‑modal platforms, like voice‑driven experiences or AR/VR

Experience gathering and working with data to identify loss patterns and create actionable insights

Experience developing AI‑driven prototypes

Compensation The US base salary range for this full‑time position is between $151,000 – $222,000 USD + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
