Job Summary Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Crypto Embedded Software Engineer for the Secure Processing Software team in El Segundo, California.

The position requires U.S. citizenship and a current Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance.

Responsibilities

Architect, design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software for a network security appliance, including device management, communication protocols, drivers, and control‑plane security features.

Collaborate closely with other software engineers to ensure the implementation meets product requirements.

Socialize designs with the team, incorporate feedback, and perform unit tests to verify module functionality and data‑structure consistency.

Participate in design reviews and code reviews for peers.

Derive and document appropriate designs for the problem space with implementation teams.

Create required project documentation such as development plans, requirement and design specifications, and test documents.

Independently manage time and prioritize tasks to meet cost and schedule constraints.

Qualifications You Must Have

Proven experience in large, complex software/hardware development projects.

STEM degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 5 years of experience.

Active Secret security clearance required prior to start date.

Qualifications We Prefer

Experience with high‑level languages (Rust, C/C++, Python) and real‑time embedded systems.

Crypto‑algorithm expertise.

Knowledge of network‑security protocols such as TLS/SSL, X.509, and OpenSSL.

Experience with Key Management Infrastructure (KMI‑3300) and Over‑The‑Network Keying (OTNK).

Familiarity with SysML/UML modeling tools.

Control‑plane implementation for Ethernet‑based network appliances.

Experience developing in an Amazon Web Services virtual environment.
