Oaks Christian is seeking Leadership (Head Football Coach, Head of Football Operations, etc.) that will engage in continuing to build an exciting, impactful, and distinctive Football Program. As a top‑flight CIF‑SS football program, Oaks Christian has achieved eight (8) CIF championships in its brief 25‑year history. OC has been reported to have placed more alumni in the NFL ranks than any other high school in America, including: Zach Charbonnet (Seattle); Colby Parkinson (LA Rams); Michael Pittman Jr. (Indianapolis); Kayvon Thibodeaux (NY Giants); Alex Bachman (Las Vegas); and Carson Schwesinger (Cleveland). As campus leaders, student‑athletes are expected to display exemplary behavior that enhances the school’s brand as well as modeling sportsmanship, character, and integrity leading to the advancement of school spirit. The development of every athlete in their ability to play the game with confidence, understanding, and exceptional ability. OC is committed to surrounding our student athletes with expert coaches that are committed to the development of each player’s football abilities. The OC athlete must be dedicated and disciplined to play in such a way as advancing the reputation of Christ, his family, and his sport. Professional Expectations, Expertise, and Duties
The successful coach will instruct student‑athletes in fundamental skills, training, and strategies necessary to achieve success. The successful coach is responsible for leading all assistant football coaches and ensuring that they have a knowledge of fundamental skills, training, and strategies necessary for the game of football. The coach will build a team of assistance coaches who are like‑minded, dedicated, and committed to leading young men to becoming real men on and off the field. The successful coach has knowledge of CIF‑SS rules and league regulations and implements these rules with integrity, on a consistent basis. The successful coach will attract and recruit student athletes to the OC Football Program in accordance with the CIF‑SS rules and regulations. The successful coach demonstrates outstanding organizational skills and will conduct effective and efficient practice sessions for the sport. The successful coach understands the value of those around him (e.g., Assistant Coaches, Athletic Director, Athletic Administrators; School Leadership, etc.) and is willing to seek out, and listen to, the advice and perspective of all constituencies. The successful coach holds the ultimate responsibility for the behavior and results of the Team. The successful coach will be present at all games and/or practices unless ill, injured, or excused by the Athletic Director. The successful coach will take an active involvement with each student athlete’s academic performance at the school. The successful coach understands his key role in both attracting new students to the OC Program and assisting his players in obtaining opportunities to play at the next level (college and university recruitment). The coach will build and maintain excellent relationships with college coaches, scouts, and their staff. The successful coach will guide student athletes through the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recruiting process, which includes academic standards and scholarship opportunities. Personal Behavior
The successful coach will have a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and will be able to articulate a life dedicated to following Christ as worthy of the student‑athlete’s personal consideration. The successful coach will actively model a life seeking God and following Jesus. The successful coach will model personal behavior, instruction, and guidance that will lead to positive values, acceptable behavior, and self‑discipline with a Christian emphasis. The successful coach will exhibit responsible professional Christian conduct (including language) both in and out of the competitive arena and assist with the spiritual development of the team. The successful coach will ensure that himself and his coaching staff, always, display a Christ‑like attitude and model lives dedicated to, and representative of, following Jesus. The successful coach possesses and exemplifies a high standard of personal behavior, always living with integrity. Facility/Fiscal/Equipment
The successful coach is responsible for the facility and the equipment used in practice sessions and in games. The successful coach is responsible for the care and upkeep of the facility which is being used for such sport. The successful coach will maintain a strict inventory of all uniforms and equipment. At the end of the season the coach will submit a copy of the inventory to the athletic office. The successful coach will maintain the integrity and discipline of the team such that all 3rd party equipment and venues (e.g., buses, locker rooms, etc.) are maintained and returned to their owners clean and in better condition than when received. This is a mark of good stewardship, culture, and a positive representation of the school and team. The successful coach will collaborate effectively with members of the school’s Athletic Training Staff; Strength and Conditioning/Sports Performance Staff; etc. Community/Parent Relationships
The successful coach is responsible for good public relations with the faculty, staff, parents, opposing coaches, and referees. The successful coach promotes all the school’s sports among parents, players, staff, and fans at all times and encourages his football players to drive positive culture and school spirit. The successful coach will assist with communications with parents as needed. The successful coach will encourage and support multi‑sport athletes to his best ability. Other Responsibilities
The successful coach monitors athletic locker rooms before and after practices and events. The successful coach develops in each athlete a respect for the Lord, school property, the OC Brand, and a keen awareness of upholding a positive attitude toward the team, school, players, fans, umpires, and the opposing team.
