About The Role Join Motive as a Senior Electrical Engineer in our Sustaining Engineering organization and become a vital part of our dynamic hardware team. You’ll take charge of developing and implementing innovative test strategies, tackling intricate hardware issues head‑on, and devising ingenious solutions. You’ll champion prioritization driven by data and measurable metrics, while championing engineering excellence within the Sustaining Engineering team. In this role, you will shape our approach to test strategies and enhance our product line.
What You’ll Do
Explore electrical architectures, schematics, and layouts to improve field performance.
Lead failure analysis of field issues and mentor junior engineers.
Collaborate with support and engineering teams to diagnose field failures on asset trackers, vehicle gateways, cameras, and IoT devices.
Develop electrical test plans and strategies tailored to the product line, using data for continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Passionate about hands‑on experience and desire to work directly with electronic systems.
10+ years of experience as a hardware engineer in design and/or field support.
Demonstrated domain knowledge in electronics development, test and debug.
Experience testing wireless technologies such as Wi‑Fi, BT, GPS, etc.
Experience with digital circuit design and various communication interfaces such as I2C, UART, SPI, USB, MIPI, I2S, DDR, eMMC, NAND flash, etc.
Experience with debug and failure analysis is required.
Experience with cameras, batteries, and other sensors is a plus.
NOTE:
This is a 4‑day a week on‑site role, in San Francisco, CA or Buffalo, NY.
Pay Transparency The compensation range for this position depends on where you reside. For this role, the compensation range is:
United States: $164,000—$205,000 USD
