Role description Arcadis is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Design & Engineering team within the North America Places group. The role sits within the Places Global Business Area (GBA). We work with clients worldwide to create, support, and enhance smart, safe and sustainable places through projects such as data centers, transit facilities, commercial & retail, mixed‑use residential, institutional/educational and social infrastructure developments. The position is key location‑based with flexible working hours and is located in Dallas, Texas, supporting our world‑class Retail architectural practice.

Role accountabilities

Develop engineering reports, calculations, drawings and specifications for mechanical systems, using HVAC, plumbing, piping and related building systems.

Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver sustainable, high‑quality deliverables from concept reports to construction documents.

Build and maintain strong market presence in the region; identify and pursue project opportunities.

Demonstrate entrepreneurial mindset and shared ownership of opportunity pursuit, strategy creation, client relationships, quality and delivery.

Operate with commercial strategy acumen in fee creation and financial success tracking for mechanical scopes.

Operate within global ways of working; collaborate effectively with teammates worldwide.

Lead and develop a growing location‑based team; mentor and train colleagues.

Travel up to 20% of the time, including overnight stays.

Required qualifications & experience

10+ years of MEP experience within the Retail practice landscape.

Professional Engineer in Texas.

Excellent communication skills for client interaction.

Confidence in client‑facing discussions.

Experience with Autodesk Platforms, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and BIM engineered solutions.

Education

BSc/BEng, MSc/MEng or equivalent in engineering.

Preferred qualifications

Direct working experience on past projects with Arcadis (including legacy CRTKL and IBI) architects.

Experience in full‑service consulting design firms and coordination with in‑house A/E resources.

Adaptable to new digital tools such as AI for evolving delivery.

Practical sustainability and carbon reduction experience.

Experience with urban environments implementing transformative solutions.

Experience with user‑experience‑centric projects requiring narrow engineering solutions.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO accrued per year. Salary range: $105,000 – $170,000 (actual salaries vary by factors such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location).
