Reinsurance Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager
Join Pacific Life as our Reinsurance Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager. We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong technical grasp of insurance and reinsurance, who is mission‑driven, self‑starter, and thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative culture.
Responsibilities
Drive key initiatives that support the reinsurance accounting and financial reporting function.
Design, plan, and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables and related internal controls.
Develop and provide concise, relevant, meaningful reporting and analysis to facilitate management’s review of financial results.
Contribute interpretation, advice, and perspective on highly technical and complex subject matter as a reinsurance subject‑matter expert.
Communicate issues and business impact to management, offer perspective and solutions.
Lead efforts to design accounting entries and reporting requirements for new transactions, treaties, and events.
Coordinate with SMEs and stakeholders in actuarial, accounting, reporting, tax, and technology teams.
Design and prepare quarterly analysis of results and trends to drive business insights.
Ensure impacts of specific business events are clearly represented in accounting results and documented in financial reporting.
Prepare or approve journal entries, account reconciliations, settlements, audit requests, and support finance projects.
Serve as an SME, interpret internal or external business issues and recommend process, product, or service improvements.
Qualifications
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.).
10+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, insurance, and/or reinsurance.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities under tight time frames.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong technical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work well in a deadline‑driven environment.
Strong accountability, customer focus, and collaboration.
Comfortable collaborating with all levels of management.
Preferred
Insurance industry experience, especially with reinsurance.
Experience or certification with Oracle, Essbase, Alteryx, Snowflake.
CPA candidacy or licensure.
Location Charlotte, NC (Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days remote).
Base Pay Range $134,820.00 – $164,780.00
