Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, and engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity. As a Lead Automation Engineer within DE&E, you will touch the lives of Disney fans around the world, working on innovative digital products and platforms from Disney, ESPN, National Geographic, ABC, Marvel, Star Wars, and more. You will be a senior leader on the Quality Engineering team, whose primary goal is continually improving the quality of the products that Disney is known for while decreasing time‑to‑market and enabling innovation. Responsibilities

Leading and mentoring junior developers and providing in-depth code reviews and technical analysis; collaborating with immediate teams and peers to design complex solutions, review code, and suggest optimizations. Developing and supporting test automation, execution environments, and reporting tools. Writing code that establishes and enhances test automation and design proof of concepts. Coordinating complex tasks with external teams & stakeholders. Leading a small group of 1–3 motivated software engineers. Providing end‑user and developer training on automation tool sets. Contributing and defining key performance indicators to define project statuses and effectiveness. Providing strategic input on future initiatives with stakeholders and other engineers. Investigating and resolving any test automation, tooling, or execution of environmental issues affecting our services. Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a closely related field with 7+ years of progressive experience in a software development (SDET) occupation, including automated testing of front‑end and back‑end services. Proficient in object-oriented design and expertise with Python, Java, or Node/JavaScript. 4+ years of experience with test automation and unit testing frameworks. 3+ years of experience leading teams of 2 or more. Experience working with high‑performing teams using Agile and Lean methodologies and frameworks. Experience in deriving and gathering quality KPIs to give insight into product health and progress. Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Highly motivated, self‑starting individual. Preferred Qualifications

Experience shipping a production Python, Flask, Django, React, or Node.js application. Experience in mobile and/or living room application development and testing. Experience with developing applications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS). Experience with test suite/case/run management tools (e.g., JIRA Xray). #DISNEYTECH The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA is $159,500 - $213,900 per year, in New York $159,500 - $213,900 per year, in Glendale, CA $152,200 - $204,100 per year and in San Francisco $166,800 - $223,600 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
