Straightaway Tire & Auto is hiring: HR Business Partner in Derry
Straightaway Tire & Auto, Derry, New Mexico, United States
At Straightaway Tire & Auto, HR Business Partners aren't just solving HR issues — they're shaping the experience of every technician, advisor, and leader in our New England shops as we grow. In this role, you'll help our New Hampshire–based brand run smoother, safer, and more people-focused, while building your own career in a fast-moving, hands-on environment.
About the Position
As the HR Business Partner for our New England brand, you'll be the go-to people partner for multiple shops across several states. You'll split your time between the field and your home office, working directly with GMs, shop leaders, and employees to support employee relations, compliance, safety, performance, and culture.
You'll help new hires ramp up, coach leaders through tough situations, and use HRIS data to spot trends and drive action — all while helping us become the employer of choice for automotive talent in the region.
Key Responsibilities
Be the primary people partner for our New England brand, building trust with GMs and shop leaders through regular on-site visits and day-to-day support.
Lead front-line employee relations — first response, triage, documentation, investigations, and manager coaching, with smart escalation when needed.
Own core compliance and safety routines for the brand, including basic DOL/FMLA/EEOC documentation, HR and safety audits, incident response, and corrective actions.
Drive a strong onboarding and offboarding experience with clear 30/60/90-day checkpoints, policy acknowledgments completed, and exit interviews that quickly surface themes.
Support culture and engagement by co-owning brand culture with GMs, helping run engagement programs, and turning survey feedback into practical action plans.
Champion development and performance by ensuring on-time reviews, quality feedback, and "Straightaway to Success" career plans that help techs, advisors, and leaders grow.
Use HRIS and people data to keep records clean, run simple reports (turnover, headcount, tenure, safety, training), and highlight hotspots or opportunities for the VP of HR and brand leaders.
Support acquisitions and growth by helping new shops transition into Straightaway's systems, expectations, and culture in a way that feels welcoming and organized.
What We're Looking For
5+ years of HR generalist or business partner experience, preferably in automotive, retail, or multi-unit field environments.
Strong background in employee relations, coaching, and supporting hourly + leadership roles.
Experience with acquisitions or organizational transitions is highly preferred.
HRIS administration or reporting experience required; comfort using HR systems and leveraging people data to support decisions.
Ability to build trust, influence leaders, and thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Willingness to travel up to 50% across multiple states.
