About Houston‑Galveston Area Council: The Houston‑Galveston Area Council (H‑GAC) is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country, serving 13 counties and more than 7 million people. H‑GAC addresses cross‑border issues daily, making decisions on transportation, safety, job placement, disaster recovery, water quality, and more to keep the region vibrant and thriving.
We are seeking an exceptional Data Warehouse Administrator to join our dynamic team, responsible for maintaining and optimizing our data infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure data integrity, support business intelligence initiatives, and build, maintain, and administer the cloud data environment.
Responsibilities
- Database Management: Design, implement, and maintain reliable and scalable database systems. Optimize performance through indexing, query tuning, and data modeling.
- Data Integration: Integrate data from various sources, ensuring accurate and efficient processing. Collaborate with data engineers to establish ETL processes and workflows.
- Business Intelligence: Develop and maintain BI dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work with internal teams to gather requirements, facilitate training sessions, and support end‑users on BI tools and queries.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce security protocols to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in database management and business intelligence.
- Testing and Validation: Develop and execute tests to validate AI/ML model performance, accuracy, and reliability, addressing bias and fairness.
- Code Quality: Write clean, modular, and well‑documented code following coding standards, best practices, and version control (GitHub).
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL Server.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data modeling concepts.
- Deep knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing solutions.
Soft Skills
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, breaking down complex problems into manageable parts.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related fields.
- Experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school systems, or related duties.
- 5 years of experience in database administration, development, software development, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with computer vision, natural language processing, or reinforcement learning.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems.
- Experience with cloud‑native applications, microservices architecture, and APIs.
- Certifications in BI, cloud computing, or related fields.
- Experience with Airia.ai platform.
- Certifications in database management, BI tools, or data analysis.

Salary: $99,000.00 – $148,500.00 per year.
