Hardcore Electrical Engineer – Humanoid Robotics
3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants
At 1X, we are building humanoid robots that will take on the hardest real-world problems. This is not incremental engineering—it is high-stakes, first-principles design. Our team is small, flat, and relentlessly driven. We move fast, break down barriers, and expect every engineer to own entire systems end-to-end. Strong communication and a hands-on mindset are essential.
What You’ll Do
As a Hardcore Electrical Engineer , you will push the boundaries of what’s possible in robotics. You’ll design and integrate electrical systems that operate at the edge of performance, reliability, and manufacturability. Expect to:
- Architect power electronics and distribution for a high-actuation, high-density humanoid robot
- Design advanced PCB layouts for sensing, actuation, and compute modules under extreme constraints
- Build real-time embedded systems using microcontrollers and high-speed digital interfaces
- Debug, characterize, and optimize across thermal, EMI, and signal-integrity domains
- Develop rapid prototypes, validation rigs, and custom tools to accelerate iteration
- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with mechanical, software, and AI teams to bring robots to life
Your Toolkit
- PCB CAD (Altium)
- Embedded C/C++, Verilog/VHDL
- STM32/ARM microcontrollers, Xilinx/Intel FPGAs
- High-speed buses: CAN, SPI, I²C, LVDS, Ethernet
- Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, thermal sensors
- A maker’s mindset: soldering iron in one hand, scope probe in the other
Who You Are
- You thrive in the chaos of hard problems and unfinished playbooks
- 5+ years of experience designing, building, and shipping real hardware (robotics, aerospace, automotive, or similar)
- Proven track record in power systems, embedded design, or high-density PCB layout
- Obsessive about reliability, yet willing to prototype fast and learn by doing
- A clear communicator who can align cross-functional teams under pressure
- Excited by the idea of making humanoid robots work in the real world
