Major Responsibilities:
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of special education laws as it relates to the IEP process and FAPE.
- Assess educational needs of students by use of standardized tools, running records and other informal assessments.
- Complete evaluation reports and present information in a professional manner.
- Develop Individual Education Plans with clear, measurable goals.
- Share in preparation of individualized education plans, as it relates to mental health goals of students.
- Meet Special Education guidelines.
- Participate in Child Study Team process and actively support classroom teachers with CST and Special Education referral process.
- Respond to student mental health concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Adhere to Child Abuse and Neglect policy and use sound judgment in making determinations.
- Collaborate with other members of the Related Service Provider (Speech, OT, PT) team on curriculum and student needs.
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention as indicated by need of student and teacher.
- Create and manage effective communication with parents.
- Maintain professional competencies in areas of responsibilities.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings and professional development.
- Implement school district and department policies.
- Collaborate with team on curriculum and student needs.
- Commit to increasing the positive climate between and amongst peers.
- Morning Duty: Includes active supervision of hallways and classroom.
- Afternoon Duty: Includes active supervision of dismissal process.
- Additional duties may be assigned without additional compensation or stipend.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, MS Preferred.
- Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students.
- Experience working in an urban setting preferred.
- Massachusetts DESE licensure as School Psychologist.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in an inclusion model school preferred.
- High interest/experience with the social/emotional/academic needs of urban children.
