Analytical Chemist - Rapid Turnaround Lab – Portage, MI
Perform physical, chemical, and instrumental analysis of active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished pharmaceutical products (tablets, capsules, parenterals, devices, liquids, creams, and gels) and animal health products.
Prepare standards and samples for analysis; run instrumentation independently including chromatographic systems, Karl Fischer, UV/Spec, HPLC, and dissolution apparatus.
Execute method transfer protocols.
Perform monthly maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Work efficiently, document work clearly, and perform tests accurately.
Ensure client receives quality data by reviewing laboratory data for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to GMP and/or GLP regulations.
Read and understand analytical procedures (compendial and client supplied) and internal SOPs.
Process data, generate reports, and evaluate data.
Train others in laboratory procedures.
Perform laboratory maintenance.
Communicate with vendors and repair personnel.
Write investigations.
Lead project/test areas and perform method transfers/feasibility studies.
Qualifications
Good dexterity; positive, solution‑driven attitude.
Flexibility to work across departments (QA, microbiology, chemistry, and general laboratory support) as workload requires.
Conduct all activities safely and efficiently.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
Excellent oral and written communication and attention to detail.
Self‑motivation, adaptability, and positive attitude; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to learn new techniques, multitask, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field, or equivalent directly‑related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full‑time year of college in a related major).
1–2 years of laboratory experience.
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Additional Information Position is full‑time: Monday – Thursday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm (4 × 10 schedule). Candidates living within commuting distance of Portage, MI are encouraged to apply.
