Position Title: Senior Network Engineer Location Information Onsite
Kansas City Metro (6-Month Contract)
Position Responsibilities: Join our team as a Senior Network Engineer, providing hands-on expertise and leadership in a wide-scale Cisco network infrastructure refresh. In this role, you will be integral to the successful rip-and-replace of core network infrastructure in active data centers and enterprise environments. This is a highly visible, onsite position with a focus on technology transformation and operational excellence. Act as the hands-on senior technical resource supporting enterprise network operations and infrastructure upgrades. Perform physical installation, cabling, rack/stack, and configuration of Cisco network equipment in data centers and clinical environments. Lead and execute large-scale rip-and-replace initiatives including the removal of legacy network gear and deployment of new hardware. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, wireless infrastructure, Collaboration/VoIP systems, and Cisco/Palo Alto firewalls. Participate in planned cutovers, maintenance windows, and after-hours change events in support of mission-critical network transitions. Conduct advanced packet capture analysis and complex network troubleshooting using tools such as Wireshark. Collaborate daily with cross-disciplinary teams, including infrastructure, systems, and security staff, to deliver seamless network integration and performance. Document network configurations, updates, diagrams, and operational procedures with clarity and precision. Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor, providing guidance and support to junior network engineers on best practices and troubleshooting methods. Participate in an on-call rotation (approximately once every 5 weeks) to provide support outside of standard business hours.
Essential Skills, Experience
Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise network systems. Extensive experience with Cisco routers, switches, wireless solutions, and Collaboration/VoIP platforms in large enterprise settings. Strong background in supporting and troubleshooting wireless networks in complex, distributed environments. Proven success working on-site in data centers, performing physical network builds, device installs, and large-scale migrations. Advanced troubleshooting skills with packet analysis tools (Wireshark or equivalent), with the ability to diagnose and resolve challenging network issues efficiently. Solid understanding of network security concepts, segmentation, and high availability networking architectures. Ability to work effectively and independently in high-pressure, production-critical environments with tight deadlines. Exceptional documentation skills, with experience creating clear network diagrams, change records, and technical guidance. Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with an aptitude for sharing knowledge and best practices. Qualifications:
