Position Overview We are seeking a proactive, senior-level Systems Engineer with deep experience in Red Hat Linux, Splunk, and Cloud technologies to support a mission-critical OCS environment under a federal program. This role focuses on enterprise Linux systems, Splunk infrastructure, cloud integrations, and modernization efforts, while providing technical leadership and mentorship within the team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who can operate independently, collaborate with federal stakeholders, and guide junior engineers in a fast-paced mission environment.
Key Responsibilities Lead administration and maintenance of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments Architect, support, and optimize Splunk deployments on Linux, including UF/HF upgrades Perform advanced troubleshooting, log analysis, and performance tuning Support cloud-based engineering efforts (AWS or Azure preferred) Drive system modernization initiatives, upgrades, and forwarder deployments Collaborate closely with federal teams and mentor junior engineers Support mission operations and provide subject-matter expertise
Qualifications Active Secret clearance (CAC card preferred, but not required) Strong senior-level experience with RHEL / Linux systems administration Hands-on expertise with Splunk engineering (deployment, UF/HF, upgrades, tuning) Experience supporting AWS and/or Azure environments Scripting and automation experience with Bash, Python, and/or Ansible Prior experience in DoD, Navy, or federal contractor environments Proven ability to work independently, lead technical efforts, and mentor others
