Position Overview Senior SCADA Engineer – Repsol (Downtown Houston, hybrid model 3 days in office, 2 days from home). The Senior SCADA Engineer, working within our engineering and construction team, will be responsible for designing and implementing SCADA systems for renewable energy projects. This role requires a deep understanding of SCADA systems, renewable energy technologies, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to ensure efficient and reliable operation of our energy assets.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain SCADA systems for renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and battery storage.

Provide SCADA support during construction and commissioning of renewable plants.

Define design criteria including scopes of work and ensure contractor/engineering compliance for overall control system, SCADA, and communications scheme.

Support and validate the development of engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments.

Ensure SCADA designs meet company and third‑party requirements.

Provide technical support to Asset Management, OT, Remote Operations Control Center, Construction, and Interconnections teams.

Assist in power plant performance analysis and root‑cause analysis.

Work with Operations to incorporate remote data requirements into EMS/SCADA system.

Ensure projects meet all cyber‑security and OT requirements.

Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders for successful execution.

Stay updated on latest SCADA technology and renewable energy trends.

Recommend alternative engineering solutions to support business needs.

Comply with health and safety, quality, and environmental requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

Legally authorized to work in the USA for any employer without company sponsorship.

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or similar discipline; or minimum 15 years of relevant SCADA experience.

7+ years experience as SCADA Engineer, OT Engineer, or Control Systems Engineer focused on renewable energy projects.

At least 2 years experience with electric grid energy management systems or similar for SCADA configuration.

Proficiency in SCADA platforms such as Wonderware, Ignition, SEL, or similar.

Experience with solar, wind, and battery storage systems.

Knowledge of cybersecurity practices required by industrial control systems of renewable generation plants.

Extensive knowledge of SCADA systems for renewable projects, with ability to supervise engineering design and commissioning.

Optional: Knowledge of protective systems of renewable plants and associated electrical infrastructure.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross‑functionally.

Ability to perform effectively in high‑pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.

Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to provide timely assessments with limited information and/or assumptions.

Proficient with personal computers and automated tools.

Engineering experience specific to electric utility‑scale renewable projects.

Experience with DAQ, RTU, IED, and PLC technologies.
