Position Senior Manager, Technical Consultant – Okta for Developers.
Position Description We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, hands‑on leader who can rapidly learn the Okta value proposition and apply it to customers of all sizes. This key leader of the Professional Services organization is accountable for the implementation of Okta services. You will manage a technical team, forecast resources, drive change management and operational excellence for PS teams, and stay deeply comfortable with client issues and resolutions. The role is a player/coach that includes customer‑facing delivery responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Technical Consulting with oversight and accountability for professional services billings/revenue, customer satisfaction, resources, and utilization.
Hire, grow, and retain PS Technical Consulting team members focused on customer success.
Provide direct management, mentoring, and support to Technical Consultants, ensuring their technical, professional, and career growth.
Demonstrate and improve our repeatable implementation methodology to rapidly enable customers to adopt the Okta service.
Contribute to ongoing process improvement within the TC practice and across Okta Professional Services and the subcontractor ecosystem.
Represent Okta Professional Services across multiple engagements and workstreams.
Ensure customer success from the beginning to the end of the engagement life cycle.
Continuously upskill team members to ensure they have the expertise and capabilities to deliver Okta to customers.
Perform customer‑facing delivery (30%) and act as a player/coach.
Qualifications
5+ years’ experience leading teams (supervisory responsibilities).
5+ years’ experience as an implementation consultant delivering solutions to external customers.
5+ years’ experience in Identity & Access Management.
Authority in technologies and protocols for identity federation and access control models (e.g., SAML 2.0, WS‑Federation, OAuth, OpenID Connect).
Familiarity with IAM solution providers strongly desired.
Extensive knowledge of enterprise web technologies and security.
Ability to work independently and multi‑functionally supporting client work.
General knowledge of modern cloud architectures and complex enterprise on‑premises IT landscapes.
Knowledge of typical enterprise identity life‑cycle management processes and standards.
Ability to multi‑task and manage multiple customer engagements is a requirement.
Ability and willingness to be a hands‑on contributor.
Experience in process improvement, decision‑making, managing processes, planning, analyzing information, and developing standards.
Software development experience preferred (Java, .Net, PHP, REST/JSON, etc.).
Expertise in JavaScript and one of the major JavaScript MVC frameworks desirable (Angular, Node, React, etc.).
Ability to travel up to 50%.
Communication
Effectively communicate technical information to non‑technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work and interact with CxO’s and high‑level customer executives.
Own the room and drive integration sessions.
Use active listening skills to understand the customer's business goals, objectives, and priorities.
Communicate difficult or sensitive information thoughtfully.
Superb communication skills, including issue tracking, triaging, and crisis management.
Team and Customer Interaction
Facilitate effective team interaction.
Provide technical leadership on delivery methodologies.
Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and management.
Continuously seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
Manage client expectations effectively.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline required.
Okta Certified Consultant and Okta Certified Developer are a plus.
CISSP certification is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits OTE range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between $227,000—$341,000 USD. For candidates located in California (excluding the Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington, the OTE range is between $203,000—$305,000 USD.
Base salary and incentive compensation.
Equity (where applicable).
