Our client is seeking an experienced
Application Engineer
to support and grow business within the
aerospace manufacturing sector . This role serves as a technical liaison between customers and the organization, applying deep
metalcutting and machining expertise
to help aerospace manufacturers improve productivity, process stability, and cost efficiency.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in
cutting tool applications , combined with experience supporting aerospace components, tight‑tolerance machining, and difficult‑to‑machine materials.
Role Overview: The Application Engineer works closely with aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, and precision machine shops to optimize machining processes through advanced cutting tool solutions. This role blends
application engineering, technical sales support, and customer collaboration , requiring hands‑on knowledge of aerospace machining requirements and production environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical application support for
indexable milling, turning, and holemaking tools , as well as
solid carbide drills, end mills, threading solutions, and toolholding systems
used in aerospace manufacturing.
Analyze aerospace machining processes and recommend optimized tooling strategies, including
tool geometry selection, insert grades, coatings, chipbreaker styles, feeds and speeds, and cutting data
to improve tool life, cycle time, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy.
Support machining of aerospace materials such as
titanium alloys, nickel‑based superalloys (Inconel), stainless steels, aluminum alloys, and heat‑resistant materials .
Partner with
manufacturing engineers, CNC programmers, machinists, and production leadership
to implement tooling solutions for
multi‑axis and 5‑axis machining, high‑speed milling, drilling, reaming, and threading operations .
Conduct tooling audits, process evaluations, and
cost‑per‑part and productivity improvement studies
to demonstrate value and support business growth.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and onsite training focused on aerospace machining best practices and process optimization.
Collaborate with internal engineering, product management, and operations teams to ensure customer requirements, aerospace standards, and production expectations are met.
Monitor aerospace industry trends, customer feedback, and competitive tooling technologies to help inform application strategy and continuous improvement.
Cutting tool application experience is required , either in application engineering or technical sales supporting aerospace or precision manufacturing environments.
Experience working with
aerospace OEMs or Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers
is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of
aerospace machining processes , tight tolerances, surface finish requirements, and quality expectations.
Hands‑on experience with
CNC machining, multi‑axis and 5‑axis machining , and advanced metal removal strategies.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and aerospace component specifications.
Comfortable working in customer‑facing environments and communicating effectively with both shop‑floor personnel and engineering leadership.
