metalcutting and machining expertise

to help aerospace manufacturers improve productivity, process stability, and cost efficiency.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in

cutting tool applications , combined with experience supporting aerospace components, tight‑tolerance machining, and difficult‑to‑machine materials.

Role Overview: The Application Engineer works closely with aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, and precision machine shops to optimize machining processes through advanced cutting tool solutions. This role blends

application engineering, technical sales support, and customer collaboration , requiring hands‑on knowledge of aerospace machining requirements and production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical application support for

indexable milling, turning, and holemaking tools , as well as

solid carbide drills, end mills, threading solutions, and toolholding systems

used in aerospace manufacturing.

Analyze aerospace machining processes and recommend optimized tooling strategies, including

tool geometry selection, insert grades, coatings, chipbreaker styles, feeds and speeds, and cutting data

to improve tool life, cycle time, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy.

Support machining of aerospace materials such as

titanium alloys, nickel‑based superalloys (Inconel), stainless steels, aluminum alloys, and heat‑resistant materials .

Partner with

manufacturing engineers, CNC programmers, machinists, and production leadership

to implement tooling solutions for

multi‑axis and 5‑axis machining, high‑speed milling, drilling, reaming, and threading operations .

Conduct tooling audits, process evaluations, and

cost‑per‑part and productivity improvement studies

to demonstrate value and support business growth.

Prepare and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and onsite training focused on aerospace machining best practices and process optimization.

Collaborate with internal engineering, product management, and operations teams to ensure customer requirements, aerospace standards, and production expectations are met.

Monitor aerospace industry trends, customer feedback, and competitive tooling technologies to help inform application strategy and continuous improvement.

Cutting tool application experience is required , either in application engineering or technical sales supporting aerospace or precision manufacturing environments.

Experience working with

aerospace OEMs or Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers

is strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of

aerospace machining processes , tight tolerances, surface finish requirements, and quality expectations.

Hands‑on experience with

CNC machining, multi‑axis and 5‑axis machining , and advanced metal removal strategies.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and aerospace component specifications.

Comfortable working in customer‑facing environments and communicating effectively with both shop‑floor personnel and engineering leadership.
