Your Opportunity We are looking for an engineer to lead Drinking Water and Sanitary Sewer modeling and planning projects. Most of the clients and projects are located in Minnesota and the upper Midwest, but there will be opportunities to support Stantec national modeling teams on similar projects throughout the United States. You will be client facing and lead both marketing/pursuit efforts as well as technical project delivery, with the support of the national modeling team. Being part of the Water team, you will work with Stantec’s industry leading Water professionals which includes over 4,000 Water staff in North America.
Your Key Responsibilities
Collaborating with other Stantec team members to develop project proposals and deliver technical work. This includes leading other staff who will help support the projects.
Leading technical work and preparation of project deliverables in accordance with Stantec’s national modeling practice protocols. Typical work products include developing, updating, and maintaining water and sewer system models (WaterCAD, InfoWater, WaterGEMS, PCSWMM, XPSWMM, InfoWorks, Aquaunity, and other applicable software), written memos/reports, and long‑term comprehensive planning documents for both water and sewer systems.
Leading teams to deliver successful projects for our clients in the Water business. You will engage internally throughout the organization with staff at all levels, and externally with clients, members of business and professional organizations, regulatory agencies, subconsultants, and other firms.
Work with Stantec’s national modeling team members to support business development and project delivery tasks.
Developing and managing the approved scope, budget, invoicing, and schedule on multiple projects simultaneously.
Identifying appropriate resources and skill sets to achieve project objectives as well as managing contract terms, tracking and managing costs and schedule, and implementing measures necessary to stay on schedule and within budget.
Embracing Stantec’s internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, quality management, and modeling discipline protocols.
Maintaining and enhancing our relationship with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals by providing exceptional service.
Provide mentoring and training for future leaders to support their career growth, including supervising junior staff.
Promoting collaboration and teamwork across engineering disciplines, business lines and geographies.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Proven project management and technical skills applicable to drinking water and sanitary sewer modeling and planning projects.
Experienced in organizing, planning, and executing drinking water and sanitary sewer modeling projects.
Hand‑on experience in industry‑leading water and sewer software (InfoWater, WaterGEMS, WaterCAD, InfoWorks ICM, PCSWMM, XPSWMM, EPASWMM)
Ability to make sound defensible business decisions, and identify, assess, evaluate, and solve complex problems.
Demonstrate ability to communicate technical information internally and externally in clear, concise manner.
Experience with client management and building client relationships.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in supervising, teaching, and mentoring other staff.
Education and Experience
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or construction management related technical discipline.
Experience: Minimum 12 years’ relevant professional experience, with at least 5 years of experience managing and/or coordinating projects.
Licenses/Certifications: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required, or ability to obtain PE license within 6 months.
Pay Range
Locations in MN, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 104,000.00 - Max Salary $ 156,000.00
