Silver Spring, MD – LHH is partnering with a forward‑thinking company to expand its accounting team. We’re seeking a Senior Accountant to provide accurate and timely financial information, maintain records, and support the overall financial operations of the organization. The role is a hybrid model, combining remote work with occasional in‑office collaboration.
Responsibilities
Manage day‑to‑day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, identifying improvement areas and recommending actions to optimize financial performance.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
Oversee month‑end and year‑end closing processes: prepare journal entries, perform reconciliations, and generate financial reports.
Assist in audit schedule preparation and coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit.
Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, fostering professional growth and development.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—finance, operations, executive management—to analyze financial data and provide strategic insights.
Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and recommend process improvements.
Identify automation opportunities and streamline accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives as assigned by finance leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or active CPA candidacy preferred.
Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficient in accounting software and financial management systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret and present financial data effectively.
Detail‑oriented, organized, and problem‑solving mindset.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across teams.
Self‑motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and dedication to confidentiality.
Competitive salary range: $80,000–$120,000 (commensurate with experience).
