Venice Site Manager – Job Description
Rediscover Center is seeking a Venice Site Manager to manage programming and operations at our Venice location. This full‑time, benefits‑eligible position will start on or around January 15, 2026, and is based primarily in Venice with some work at schools, community events, and other Rediscover Centers.
Key responsibilities include supervising staff, interns, and volunteers, teaching programs and managing the facility, programming, and operations. You will collaborate with Programs Managers, the Admin Team, the Executive Director, and other Rediscover staff on fundraising, contracting, partnerships, HR, and IT. You will set the tone for our Venice Center, prototyping and implementing new engagement modes that respond to local community needs while advancing our strategic and mission‑driven goals. You will sustain and improve existing programs and help define the Venice Center as part of a five‑year plan to create L.A.’s leading making and creative play institution for youth.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial maker, artist, and/or educator who wants to support a rising generation of makers transforming discarded materials into art while developing skills that lead to a lifetime of sustainable making.
Position Details
40 hours/week; 10 federal holidays plus 15 days/year PTO

Responsibilities Summary
Lead educational programs at Rediscover Center Venice and off‑site, including weekends
Coordinate a regular schedule of programs at Rediscover Center Venice
Iteratively improve the programs produced at Rediscover Center Venice
Manage the facility, makerspace, and Venice‑based staff
Responsibilities Details
Program Scheduling and Oversight (10%)
In coordination with the Admin Team, create and implement a schedule of free and fee‑based programs that meets impact and financial goals
Work with the Operations Team to ensure the necessary resources are deployed for successful delivery of programs at Rediscover Center Venice
Implement Rediscover protocols and pedagogy in all programs
Improve existing programs and develop new programs in response to community needs, participant feedback, and evolving industry best practices
Support other areas of Rediscover as needed
Program Facilitation (40%)
Facilitate Rediscover’s programs 3–4 days per week at Rediscover Center Venice and off‑site, including classes, camps, workshops, teacher professional development, and community outreach
Understand and follow Rediscover’s protocols on educational pedagogy, safety, and content
Provide additional program facilitation and staff support in response to unplanned absences and similar emergent staff schedule changes
Support fellow Programs Team leaders for special projects and to cover seasonal variations in workloads
Site and Staffing Oversight (30%)
Prepare and maintain the facility for programmatic operations
Implement clean, safe, and effective Rediscover Center operations, including the physical plant, tools, equipment, and materials of the youth makerspace
Maintain, repair, update, and replace makerspace tools and equipment to meet maker education best practices
Interface with the property owner, building systems service providers, and neighborhood stakeholders
In collaboration with the Rediscover Operations Team, train, supervise, and support staff, including Teaching Artists, Assistant Facilitators, and interns
With the Volunteer Team, recruit, train, and supervise volunteers
Originate and/or manage Special Projects, as needed
Finance, Fundraising, and Organizational Management (10%)
With Operations Director, monitor income and expenses of Venice‑based programs and operations in relation to budget and Rediscover’s fiscal sustainability principles
Support the Development Team to secure donations, grants, and in‑kind donations related to Venice Center
Contribute to and implement strategic plans to support the long‑term growth of the Venice Center’s impact and Rediscover’s overall impact
Document successes and failures of individual programs and overall operations of the Venice Center and prepare reports on programs and operations, for internal and external distribution
Work with Rediscover staff to share best practices, provide mutual aid, and create a consistent high‑quality program across the organization
Community Outreach (10%)
Build knowledge of, interest in, and engagement with Rediscover among diverse communities within 5 miles of Venice Center
Coordinate with Rediscover’s partner organizations in the Westside, South Bay, and South L.A. to maximize our educational impact through one‑off and ongoing programs
Support the Community Programs Manager, School Programs Manager, and other staff on marketing and recruitment programs to connect Rediscover with new partner organizations on the Westside, including schools, community groups, government agencies, and foundations
Key Skills and Qualifications
Experience producing large‑scale art education programs, coordinating teams of artists, educators, and volunteers, and/or managing complex projects
Experience originating and building successful educational programs, business units, or social entrepreneurial projects
Management experience in collaborative nonprofit environments
Facilities management experience in educational, makerspace, or office settings
Familiarity with visual arts education, open‑ended play, child‑centered learning, constructionism, tinkering, or similar educational concepts
Experience working in and managing a makerspace
Familiarity with environmental sustainability education
Highly knowledgeable of the cultural and educational ecosystems of Los Angeles County; existing relationships with Westside cultural and educational organizations a plus
GSuite, Square, and similar services; video production for social media a plus
Excellent customer service skills, including by phone, email, messaging, and in person
Ability to work in public schools, including passing a fingerprint background check
Highly independent
Ability to lift 25 lbs
Spanish language skills preferred

The work schedule includes coordination and some direct facilitation of a seven‑day‑a‑week schedule of educational programs. Expect regular weekend and/or evening work time.
