Your Role in Keeping the Future in Safe Hands… The
Senior Director and Head of Finance
serves as the senior financial leader for one of our Business Areas, partnering directly with the Managing Director and serving on the Business Area Leadership Team. This role leads all aspects of accounting, FP&A, financial operations, internal controls, cash management, pricing analytics, and commercial financial support.
Key Responsibilities This leader will manage a U.S.-based team of four (Accounting + AR/Billing) and provide mentorship, strategic oversight, and development support to the Finance Lead in our London business. The Director of Finance serves as the primary financial partner and advisor for Sales, HR, Technology, and Supply Chain leaders—driving profitable growth, operational discipline, and long‑term strategic planning aligned with ASSA ABLOY’s global financial standards.
Financial Leadership & Strategy
Serve as a core member of the Business Area leadership team, influencing strategy, resource allocation, pricing, and growth decisions.
Develop multi‑year financial models that support strategic planning, M&A assessment, capacity planning, and technology investments.
Provide financial insight and recommendations to support commercial strategy, including pricing models, margin expansion, and sales operations.
Lead financial integration and onboarding for new acquisitions within the business area.
Accounting Oversight & Compliance
Oversee all accounting operations, including month‑end close, general ledger accuracy, cash flow management, inventory accounting, fixed assets, and reconciliation processes.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit standards, and group finance policies.
Provide technical accounting guidance, ensuring proper allocation of revenue, cost of goods sold, reserves, and capital investments.
Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements prepared by the accounting team.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Own the annual budget, monthly forecasts, and long‑range financial plan.
Publish monthly business performance packages for executives, translating financial results into actionable business insights.
Identify risks, opportunities, and required course corrections to achieve financial commitments.
Develop dashboards and KPIs for leadership visibility, ensuring real‑time awareness of performance.
Business Partnership & Cross‑Functional Support
Partner with Sales Leaders on pricing strategies, pipeline forecasting, revenue optimization, and strategic customer discussions.
Work with the Supply Chain Leader to drive cost accuracy, inventory optimization, and margin improvements.
Advise the Technology leader and product teams on cost modeling, ROI on technology initiatives, and financial alignment of product roadmaps.
Provide operational support to HR on compensation planning, headcount forecasting, and labor cost modeling.
Participate in strategic planning, M&A evaluation, and integration initiatives across the business.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance and accounting professionals in the U.S., fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
Provide dotted‑line leadership and professional guidance to the European Finance Lead/Manager.
Enhance financial skills across the business by simplifying financial concepts and improving financial literacy for non‑finance leaders.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
Evaluate and enhance financial systems and tools to support scalability and improved reporting efficiency.
Drive process improvements across finance operations—billing, collections, purchasing, inventory accounting, and cost controls.
Implement best‑in‑class forecasting, budgeting, and reporting models.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience; at least 5+ years in a leadership role.
Strong accounting foundation required (GAAP, close cycles, audits, controls).
Experience in manufacturing, SaaS, technology, or similar blended business models is highly desirable.
Demonstrated success partnering with operational and commercial leaders to drive results.
Proven ability to lead teams, influence without authority, and operate in a matrixed environment.
Advanced proficiency with financial systems (SAP, NetSuite, or similar), Excel, and BI tools.
Ability to work effectively with global teams, with experience supporting international business units.
